Meet Pastor Robert Earl Houston, Sr.
Pastor Robert Earl Houston, Sr. was born May 16, 1960 in Portland, Oregon to the union of Naomi Jackson Houston and the late Rev. Phene Houston. He was raised in Portland and spent his formative years, this critical season, raised in North and Northeast Portland, attending schools and colleges in the area.
In 1972 he united with Morning Star Baptist Church, the late Rev. Sylvester McCullumn, Pastor. However, at a Bible Camp in 1976, God allowed one of the camp counselors, Rev. Bruce Andrews, to challenge his heart - and he accepted Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior. Later that year, he united with the New Hope Missionary Baptist Church, Rev. A. Bernard Devers, I, Pastor.
In November 1977 he was called to preach the gospel. In April 1978 he preached his first sermon and received his License in 1979 and ordained in 1984. He left with his pastor, Rev. Johnny Pack, IV, to organize the Fellowship Baptist Church as a Charter Member and serving as Acting Pastor during the pastor's brief illness.
During this time, his son, Robert Houston, Jr. (pictured right) was born in 1983. Robert is now is in the management program at Enterprise Rental Cars, Inc., after receiving his Bachelor of Arts degree in Business Administration/Marketing from the University of Southern Mississippi.
Pastor Houston received his Bachelor degree from Mt. Carmel Theological Seminary. He is currently enrolled in their Master's Degree program with a goal of graduating in 2008. He studied at Portland State University, American Baptist Seminary of the West, Multnomah School of the Bible, Golden Gate Theological Seminary, United Bible College & Seminary, Cuyamaca College, and San Diego Bible College. Because of his ministerial accomplishments, the board of two different Seminaries approved him to receive an honorary doctoral degree in divinity.
The Lord assigned him to pastor three churches located in Portland, Oregon, Fresno, California, and San Diego, California. He joined Morris Cerullo World Evangelism as a Project Manager, preparing for Dr. Cerullo's Crusades in major cities across the United States, as well as serving as an editor of Blessed! Magazine.
On October 12, 2005, he began his current assignment - as Assistant Pastor of the Westwood Baptist Church, University Center in Nashville, Tennessee. Ten days later, October 22, 2005, he was united in holy matrimony to Jessica G. Anderson, a faithful member of the Mount Calvary Baptist Church, Sacramento, California.
God gave Pastor Houston favor by blessing him with an humble, sweet, kind, loving, praying and supportive wife that He had prepared for this season in his life. Jessica has become the true love of his life - that doesn't seek anything but the Biblical, submissive role of the help-meet. Her display of love and loyalty to her husband has not gone unnoticed - and she has become a mentor to other young wives, especially those in ministry, by her wise counsel and love of her husband. God's favor is upon their marriage!
